4-H Manitoba 100th Anniversary Banners

Each Area 4-H Liaison now has a set of the three new 4-H Manitoba 100th Anniversary pull-up banners. MacDon Highlights 4-H with Magazine Article

MacDon is again promoting the 4-H program by including an article about the organization and its 100th anniversary in its spring issue of Performance, their company magazine which is published twice a year. Manitoba Women’s Institute Salutes 4-H

Manitoba Women's Institute was pleased to salute the 100th Anniversary of 4-H in Canada by featuring a selection of the Provincial Communications’ winners as entertainment at the Future Leaders of Manitoba Banquet held in conjunction with the Provincial Women's Institute convention in Winkler on April 26th. 100th Anniversary Gala Reception and Banquet – May 30, 2013

Celebrate 100 years of 4-H in Canada at the Gala Reception and Banquet being held in conjunction with the 2013 Annual meeting of the 4-H Canada Council. Connect with old friends and hear keynote speaker, Dr. Roberta Bondar, on May 30 at the Fairmont in Winnipeg. 100th Anniversary Night at the 4-H Museum – May 31, 2013

Come out to Roland, Manitoba, home of Canada’s first 4-H club, and join Premier Selinger and other guests for an evening of celebration. This free evening is open to the public and will feature a variety of special presentations, along with a rededication of the cairn erected in 1963 for the 50th anniversary. Member projects will be on display along with some 4-H project cattle and a local club will perform a musical ride. In honour of 4-H’s association with Food Banks Canada, a collection will be taking place for the local food banks throughout the evening. Food will be available for purchase, and fireworks will cap off the night of celebration.

100th Anniversary Commemorative Items Available

A boxed pen and pencil set ($5) and a memory stick ($7) commemorating 100 years of 4?H Manitoba are available for purchase from the 4-H Store through the usual channels. In addition, a limited number of free candies, tattoos and balloons are available for use as give-aways at 4-H parades and events. The items can be viewed here. Do More With Less Recipe Challenge

As part of the 4-H Canada 100th Anniversary Food Bank Initiative, a “Do More With Less” Recipe Challenge is being held to encourage 4-Hers to create tasty recipes with both budget and nutrition in mind. At the end of the program, a recipe book will be created in digital and print formats. For more details, click here.

4-H Canada Launches 100 for 100 Legacy Campaign

4-H Youth from each of the ten provinces attended CanadaÕs Outdoor Farm Show in Woodstock, Ontario to promote 4-H Canada’s 100 for 100 Legacy Fund Campaign to raise $100,000 for the next 100 years of 4-H in Canada. Details of the campaign’s launch in Manitoba will be coming soon.

100th Anniversary Philanthropic Initiative Food Banks Canada/4-H Canada Anniversary Campaign

This campaign offers an opportunity for 4-H members and clubs to celebrate the 100th Anniversary by partnering with, and providing support to, their local Food Bank through:

• The collection/delivery of canned goods, fresh produce or non-perishable food products, or
• Fundraising to generate monetary donations, or
• A combination of both. [more]

100th Anniversary Gala

On Thursday, May 30th, 2013, 4-H Canada will host a special 100th Anniversary Gala evening - themed “Food for Thought” - a nod to the importance of food production, sustainability and feeding a growing planet and to the community involvement that has been at the core of the 4-H experience. Over 300 4-H members, leaders, distinguished alumni, patrons, partners, sponsors and special guests are expected to attend. 4-H Canada is pleased to welcome and announce Cargill as presenting sponsor of the 100th Anniversary Gala to be held in the Ballroom of the Fairmont Winnipeg.

4-H Night in the Country/4-H Museum Ceremony

On Friday, May 31st, 2013, several attendees at the 100th Anniversary AGM and Gala event in Winnipeg will be making the journey to Roland, MB, as part of the Night in the Country evening that is an annual event associated with the national meetings. This coordinated tour will feature several stops along the way and culminate with an evening banquet in the hall near the museum. Following the banquet, a special ceremony is being planned to commemorate the Centenary Anniversary of the 4-H program in Manitoba and in Canada. A new display case will be constructed for this ceremony and delegates from all ten provinces will place a symbolic item in this case to remain in the museum in perpetuity. Rededication of the cairn and the unveiling of a new 100th Anniversary plaque on the cairn will also be included in the ceremony.

Canada to Host Global Youth Ag Summit at the Delta Bow Valley, Calgary, Alberta in August 2013

Feeding a Hungry Plant is the title of this summit to be held in Calgary, Alberta, August 19-25, 2013. Since launching the 4-H Youth Ag Summit website in December 2012, young adults from around the world have shown great interest in coming to the table to help solve the issue. 100th Anniversary Media Launch

The launch of the 100th Anniversary Celebration of the 4-H program in Canada was held at the 4H Manitoba Council booth during Ag Days at the Keystone Centre on Tuesday, January 17th, 2012. A number of media representatives and spectators were present to hear greetings and well wishes. [more]

Food Banks Canada and MacDon Windrower Launch

The national announcement of the formalized partnership between Food Banks Canada and the 4-H Canada Council was held on the front steps of the Manitoba Legislature on Monday, May 28, at 11:00 am. This announcement was the result of an agreement between Food Banks Canada and 4-H Canada to co-promote and co-ordinate the collection of non-perishable foods and financial donations in support of local Food Banks across Canada over the next 18 months. This agreement is part of the 100th Anniversary celebrations occurring during that time and is a testament to the community service for which both organizations are so well recognized. [more]

100th Anniversary Community Signs

The 4-H Manitoba Council 100th Anniversary Pride Committee has coordinated the production of 192 commemorative signs, one for each Club active in 2012, to be placed in their communities as recognition of the existence of the 4-H program in their area. [more]
