Relax and relieve stress

  • Applicants must have completed three years of 4-H project work as of September 1st of the year which application is made and one of those years in Manitoba 4-H in order to be eligible for membership.
  • Applicants must be between the ages of 17 and 22 as of the beginning of the fiscal year.
  • Members are required to have their primary residence within the province of Manitoba.
  • Ambassadors must retire at the end of the fiscal year in which they reach the age of 23.

Committees of the 4-H Ambassadors

Sponsorship & Publicity

The sponsorship & publicity committee is in charge of obtaining financial donations from various companies and develops fundraising projects enabling the Manitoba 4-H Ambassadors to operate. This committee is also in charge of promoting the Ambassadors

Membership and Scholarship

The membership committee is responsible for recruiting new members reviewing current members and selection resource persons. Each year, the Scholarship committee presents the Peggy Coverdale Memorial Scholarship, and Ambassador funded award, to a deserving Manitoba 4-H member entering post-secondary education. If possible, this $300 Scholarship is presented by an Ambassador at the recipient’s grade 12 graduation.

Resource Persons

A person who has the knowledge, ability and time to help maintain the smooth operation, and to create a positive effect, on the Ambassador program.

Retreat

The retreat committee organizes the annual Ambassador retreat.

City Survival

The city survival committee organizes and staffs the city survival weekend, which is usually held in Winnipeg in late January or early February. Eighteen Manitoba 4-H Senior Members are chosen from clubs throughout the province.  During the four-day event, the delegates become familiar with city environment and life on their own. Delegates are billeted out to Ambassadors throughout Winnipeg and nights are spent at the host's home, while the days are filled with workshops, tours, and project work.

Program and Training

Program and Training The program and training committee (P+T) is responsible for coordination programming and training of the Ambassadors. The P+T committee has two components.

  1. The programming component which includes generation new program ideas to present to the general membership.
  2. The training component includes the training needs of the general members, and organizing and implementing activities to meet these needs.

Social

The social committee organizes social activities for the Ambassador members; this mainly consists of two social activities a year; a summer and winter social event, and various small informal social activities throughout the year.
